Little Book Chapter 2: ‘Noe Simple Task’ is a demonstration of Freddie Noe’s unwavering commitment to crafting a perfect blend. The process was indeed ‘Noe Simple Task,’ taking around three dozen blending attempts to achieve the desired composition. This whiskey is a harmonious blend of:
– An 8-year Kentucky straight rye, bringing a touch of traditional spice
– A 40-year-old 100% corn Canadian whisky, adding an unparalleled depth of maturity
– A 13-year Canadian rye whisky, lending a distinct sharpness
The whiskey welcomes you with a pleasing light amber color, reminiscent of a ripe organic navel orange. It charms the senses with a sweet and fruity aroma, with notes of green apples, star jasmine, buttered sourdough toast, and a hint of butterscotch.
Despite its high proof of 118.8, it’s unexpectedly smooth on the palate, subtly revealing its fruity and sweet notes from the nose, and finishes with a refreshing whisper of mint and a slight undertone of licorice. The drink offers a pleasing rye chew factor, and even those who are typically not fans of Canadian whisky may find themselves pleasantly surprised by this blend.
